Vince Gilligan Discloses He Has an Idea of How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... At the Moment.

The creative mastermind could not have predicted that the Apple TV+ show would turn into a cultural phenomenon. “God bless the fans,” he states. “I was surprised by the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

As the debut season of the popular program reaching its finale—and Season 2 officially in the works—the creative team recently discussed the viewer reception and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

Regarding the Tremendous Fan Response

It would be easy to get sidetracked by the widespread acclaim and fan theories about Pluribus. Gilligan, however, is doing his best to ignore the noise.

“It feels like constantly eating hot fudge sundaes and being laughing uncontrollably,” he says. “It's amazing, but I get wind of it anecdotally, and that's on purpose. Never in my life looked myself up on the internet, nor do I ever plan to. It's quite the opposite. It's a deep trap I know I would fall into and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from the hardware store and I'd be stuck in my living room.”

Despite trying to stay away, there’s it's impossible to ignore the immensely favorable response to the series. The most practical strategy is to accept it graciously and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“We don't try to tailor anything,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not changed by what people are saying.”

“Better to keep our heads down and working,” Gilligan concludes.

The Big Question: Has the creator Have a Plan for the Finale of Pluribus?

Given that the writers aren't taking cues by public opinion, can we assume they already know how Pluribus will ultimately end? In short yes… in a way.

“We have some interesting ideas about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan reveals. “however, we remain prepared to abandon a good idea for a superior concept. That philosophy has guided us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

Then again, if plans fall through, director and writer Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to fall back on.

“I constantly suggest that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll pull back at the end and the characters are inside it,” Smith quips, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Then again, why mess with the iconic TV endings?

“I want Carol to open her eyes with Bob Newhart there,” he jokes.

Pluribus is currently available on Apple TV.
