Triple National Basketball Association MVP Nikola Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Nuggets were defeated by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.

Jokic sustained the injury late in the first half following an accidental coming together with fellow Nugget Jones.

The other player stepped on the foot of the big man, who immediately went down to the ground grabbing his knee.

The 30-year-old, who is leading the league season in boards and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the matchup prior to suffering the setback.

The player will have an MRI on the following day to determine the severity of the injury.

"Instantly, he knew there was a problem," said Nuggets head coach Adelman.

"This is part of the NBA. Anyone who is injured, that's difficult, especially somebody as special as him. We'll find out more on Tuesday."

"We'll move on as a team. Of course, right now, I am focused primarily about Jokic as a person and the letdown of facing a situation like that."
