President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Mourners gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Policy Changes
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The event led the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and cease providing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told the program that she aimed to meet with his relatives.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with honor, according to the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
