New Details Emerge About the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains

Recent details have emerged about the untimely demises of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report citing a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

When she went into the house, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held without bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.

Additionally pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation includes reports of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
