NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , after recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable in those games were the amount of infractions each committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against Denver, set to play overseas this Sunday.

However it proved positive to observe how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit before direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, and Denver prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.

Early on of the season, it was noted during a show how the Broncos might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They finished the previous year strongly and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

New tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while new RB JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in positive down and distances.

This has benefited QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw all over, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he's so athletic.

His assets are his mobility, the capacity to pass while moving, and using different arm angles to make throws as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got great poise under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.

When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to be in play for longer, and when you have a mobile QB the defence has to cover the area vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.

Nix has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can really build something up how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and now passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the success Denver are having on offence is largely due to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need is to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their strength, that is running the ball, and this is exactly what they should do against the Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they're the only team yet to win a game.

Ever since the league began tracking takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the West.

This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
