Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the formal statement, "An unusual encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of forbidden practices and fearsome changes echo through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden group.
The mission concentrates on "bizarre tests and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements

Newest Free Story Content
This patch also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
